Description:

The 2024 Tudor Dragon 2oz silver coin is the fifth bullion release in the Royal Tudor Beasts Collection from The Royal Mint. The collection features the 10 'Beasts' statues that line the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court and which represent the families of the King's line.

Designed by David Lawrence, the reverse side of the coin features the Tudor Dragon adopted by Henry Tudor (later King Henry VII) when raising an army against Richard II in preparation for the Battle of Bosworth field. This design is not only for visual appeal but also has enhanced security features as a protection against counterfeiting. The obverse side of the coin presents the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Martin Jennings.

The dragon was used as a heraldic symbol, representing power, strength, and authority. Its origins can be traced back to Welsh mythology, where dragons were often depicted as powerful and fearsome creatures. The Tudors, who had Welsh ancestry, adopted the dragon as a symbol to emphasize their connection to Wales and to convey their authority as rulers.

The 2024 Tudor Dragon 2oz silver coin contains exactly two troy ounces (62.2 grams) of pure 999.9 silver.
