Key Features
A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Annual Calendar (Ref. 238.026 E)
An exceptional and highly prestigious 18K white gold manual-winding annual calendar wristwatch with a moon phase display, featuring an elegant solid silver dial. Presented in brand-new, unworn condition as a complete full set.
Paying homage to the foundational heritage of Ferdinand Adolph Lange, the 1815 Annual Calendar represents a flawless marriage of classical Saxon design and highly sophisticated watchmaking mechanics. This masterful timepiece is powered by the exquisitely hand-finished in-house Calibre L051.3 manual-winding movement. Visible through the sapphire crystal exhibition case back, it showcases traditional Glashütte artistry, including the three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver, hand-engraved balance cock, gold chatons held by blued screws, and a classic screw balance.
This specific lot is defined by its immaculate, solid silver argenté dial, characterized by historical elements such as the prominent railway-track minute scale, bold Arabic numerals, and beautifully fired blued steel hands. The balanced calendar layout seamlessly integrates twin sub-dials: the left displaying the day and date, and the right presenting the month. At 6 o'clock, a highly precise moon phase indicator—calculated to remain accurate for 122.6 years—is nested within the small hacking seconds sub-dial. Enclosed in a perfectly proportioned 40mm 18K white gold case with a polished bezel and satin-brushed case band, the watch features a convenient corrector button at 2 o'clock to advance all calendar indications simultaneously. The timepiece is fitted to its original premium black alligator leather strap and secured by an 18K white gold Lange pin buckle.
A definitive masterpiece for true connoisseurs of high horology, capturing the unmatched technical precision and timeless, understated luxury of Saxon watchmaking. Offered at Maynard Auctions in pristine, unworn condition accompanied by its original box and papers.
